#8 Miners Castle -
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
Cliffs, sugar sand beaches, dunes, waterfalls and forests are all features of the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The pictured rocks, for which the park is named, rise directly from the Lake Superior shoreline to heights of 50-200 feet. The view of Miners’ Castle, whether by boat or land, is that of a stately monolith towering 9 stories high. The view from Miners Castle itself is uniquely beautiful because of the elevated perspective it offers of both Lake Superior and its shoreline.
